– Sagamore Farm’s three-year-old filly, Millionreasonswhy (Grand Slam – Secure by A.P. Indy) made her 2012 debut today at Laurel Park and won the $100,000 Wide Country Stakes. This was her first race since finishing second by a neck to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filly champion, My Miss Aurelia in the Adirondack Stakes (GII) at Saratoga on Aug. 14, 2011. Glyndon, Md. – Sagamore Farm announced today their recently retired 2010 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (GI) champion, Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect – Silk N’ Sapphire by Smart Strike) will be bred to Bernardini (A.P. Indy – Cara Rafaela, by Quiet American). The winner of the 2006 Preakness Stakes, Bernardini has produced 335 foals of racing age with earnings totaling $7,316,863 over three years. Read more...

2010 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (GI) Winner Returns Home to Sagamore Farm

Glyndon, Md. – Sagamore Farm announced today their five-year-old mare, Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect – Silk N’ Sapphire by Smart Strike) has retired from racing. Foaled on Feb. 8, 2006 by breeder William A. Carl, Shared Account was the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (GI) champion. She last raced on Nov. 4 at Churchill Downs attempting to defend her title in the Breeders’ Cup finishing seventh, but only beaten by two-and-a-half lengths. In 18 career starts, Shared Account earned $1,649,427, finishing with a record of 6-4-1. Read more...

Two-Year-Old Colt Tiger Walk Earns Maiden Win at Laurel Park

Louisville, Ky. – Sagamore Farm’s three-year-old colt, Humble and Hungry (Limehouse – Cukee by Langfuhr) won the $111,200 Commonwealth Stakes (GIII) at Churchill Downs today. Under jockey Jose Lezcano and trained by Ignacio Correas IV, the 11-1 shot edged away from the field of seven down the stretch finishing 1 1/4 lengths in front of second place horse Wilkinson, while clocking 1:45:24 in one and on sixteenth miles on the wet turf. Millionreasonswhy Takes Second in Grade II Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. -- Sagamore Farm had two horses competing in $150,000 Grade II (GII) Stakes races at Saratoga Race Course this weekend. Three-year-old colt, Humble and Hungry took third in the National Racing Museum Hall of Fame Stakes on Friday afternoon. 2011 Matron Stakes (GII) winner, Millionreasonwhy finished second in a photo finish behind the favorite, My Miss Aurelia, in today’s Adirondack Stakes, which featured a talented field of two-year-old fillies.
